DAYBORO COTTAGE "VISITOR INFORMATION CENTRE"
Dayboro Cottage at 27 Williams Street, Dayboro, was built in mid 1900 and was originally the middle cottage of three sawmill workmen's cottages. It is now home to the local Visitor Information Centre, Tourism Pine Rivers Association Inc, and the Dayboro District Historical Society, where volunteers can provide you with tourist and historical information on the surrounding area. Pop in to the cottage and so that you don't miss anything, find out from the locals who staff the visitor information centre what there is to see and do around Dayboro.
While you are here, soak up the atmosphere while you wander around the town and take a look at the heritage buildings, browse in the art and craft galleries, or have a bite to eat at one of the cafes, before exploring a host of other attractions further afield where there are more art and craft galleries, accommodation options and wineries, to name just a few.
You are warmly welcomed at Dayboro Cottage, where you can also pick up a brochure on neighbouring Shires or a copy of the local community papers. Perhaps you may like to view the short video on historical buildings in Dayboro - "The town of yesteryear".
Dayboro Cottage is generally open 7 days from 10am to 3pm and staffed by volunteers.

DAYBORO DISTRICT HISTORICAL SOCIETY INC was formed in 2004 and shares "Dayboro Cottage" with Tourism Pine Rivers Association Inc., as the two organisations complement each other.
The aims of the Society are to collect, collate and preserve items and information relating to Dayboro and its surrounding areas. To this end, we now have a collection of local family histories, which is being added to all the time. We also have photographs of the township in the early 1900's and also copies of some early property selection documents and transfer documents. We also have various school and church centenary books, other general research books and data CD's.
A "Register of Interest" is being established for visitors to record any interest they may have in families who have lived in the district "yesteryear", or businesses or organisations. We may be able to put them in touch with some distant relatives, as there are many descendants of the early settlers still in our area, or supply them with other information. They may also be able to provide us with some information which would assist in our research.
Membership is open to anyone who is interested. Annual membership is $20, or $30 for a family (members living in the same residence). The Society meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month (December excluded) at 7.30pm at the Dayboro Cottage, 27 Williams Street, Dayboro.
